A group of six of Europe's largest energy companies have today written to the EU, calling on it to fast track plans for a new climate law that would require the bloc to deliver net zero emissions by 2050 at the latest. In 2019, the UK passed a law to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. To be classed as net zero, a company must achieve a balance between the carbon it emits into the atmosphere and the carbon it removes. Burberry has ambitious plans to not only be carbon neutral by 2022, but be carbon positive by 2040.
