GEL to produce geothermal lithium from Cornwall, UK projects

Geothermal Engineering Limited (GEL) has announced plans of producing around 10o tonnes of Lithium Carbon Equivalent (LCE) per year from the company’s geothermal projects in Cornwall, UK. High lithium concentrations at the United Downs site had been reported as early as 2021.

Mexico forms state-run company to mine lithium

In April 2022, Mexico amended its Mining Law to reserve to the state the exclusive right to explore for and exploit lithium. Now the country has formed a state-run company called Litio para Mexico (LitioMx) to oversee the mining of lithium. The new company will begin operations within the next six months.
