Two weeks ago in Renewable Energy Growth Continues At A Blistering Pace , I highlighted the inability of renewable energy to keep up with overall energy demand: “Even though global renewable energy consumption has increased by about 21 exajoules in the past decade, overall energy consumption has increased by 101 exajoules. Increased fossil fuel consumption made up most of this growth, with every category of fossil fuels showing increased consumption over the decade.”.

NHS Property Services, responsible for around 10 per cent of the health service's estate, claims efforts helped cut CO2 by more than 40,000 tonnes last year. Efforts to decarbonise the UK's National Health Services (NHS) bore yet more green fruit last year, with a combination of renewable power contracts, LED lighting, and building energy efficiency all helping to slash emissions across more than a tenth of its estate, according to NHS Property Services.
