The burgeoning U.S. microgrid industry is set to install less controllable capacity this year than it did last year. But that setback may prove a temporary blip, especially if a new effort to back up the beleagured Northern California grid comes to fruition. The U.S. microgrid market set a record with 666 megawatts of capacity additions in 2018, but project delays and cancellations have dropped the expected 2019 total to 553 megawatts, according to a new report by energy research firm Wood Macke
Speaker: Kevin Kai Wong, President of Emergent Energy Solutions
In today's industrial landscape, the pursuit of sustainable energy optimization and decarbonization has become paramount. Manufacturing corporations across the U.S. are facing the urgent need to align with decarbonization goals while enhancing efficiency and productivity. Unfortunately, the lack of comprehensive energy data poses a significant challenge for manufacturing managers striving to meet their targets.

According to data from Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables, corporate customers procured a total of 5.8 gigawatts of wind and solar projects in 2018, an increase of 109 percent over the previous year. As the market for commercial and industrial (C&I) renewables gains momentum, it’s also evolving to include increasingly cost-competitive energy storage, which many see as critical to

The Europeans are coming. From offshore wind, to solar, to the ballooning corporate renewables market, utilities, oil majors and developers are heading across the Atlantic for a piece of that gigantic American power pie. Many of the companies on this (non-exhaustive) list have been laying the foundations of this effort for some time. Here are seven we'll be keeping a close eye on in 2020.

With the first wave of the energy transition, renewable energy sources (such as solar and wind) have begun replacing coal power generation. However, some sectors are lagging behind and struggling to decarbonize more than others, including large-scale transportation like commercial aviation, shipping, and rail transit. Electrofuels (aka eFuels) are the next generation of solutions to help the hardest-to-abate sectors pivot from their reliance on fossil fuels.
