A centralized power source can create issues if it unexpectedly goes offline. When a glitch led the Montclair State University’s microgrid to believe that an outage had occurred, it kicked in and isolated the University from the main grid and seamlessly powered the entire campus for nine hours.

I've been attending these sorts of events for a few years. Although I enjoy them, I don't think they are very effective at their stated purpose. Every time I attend a Drive Electric event, it seems that it is preaching to the choir.

In a fresh Reddit discussion, the owner of a 7 year-old Tesla Model S explains that his battery is at 98% battery capacity today. This is another reminder of the reasons Tesla cars are much slower to depreciate in value. Any Model S already has long enough range that its battery can degrade significantly and it's still a highly practical, no-compromises electric vehicle, but seeing such little degradation is that much better for initial owners and used car buyers.
