Geothermal to provide heating and cooling in Ferney-Voltaire, France

Work has started on a geothermal district heating and cooling network in Ferney-Voltaire in Ain, France, near the Geneva Airport. The project is also receiving EUR 10 million from the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME). Celsius Energy , in partnership with Dalkia, will be working on the geothermal heating project.

Eavor reports drilling to 7000m measured depth at Geretsried project, Germany

According to the update, Eavor has now drilled down to 7000 meters measured depth, while power plant construction is also ongoing. The plan is for two drilling rigs to operate in parallel, drilling down to 4500 meters vertical depth before deflecting horizontally. Drilling for the project officially started in July 2023.

Bochum, Germany to extract geothermal heat from abandoned coal mines

Construction is currently ongoing for new buildings that will be served by a planned geothermal heating project in Bochum, Germany that aims to utilize water from abandoned coal mine shafts for emissions-free heating and cooling. Two wells were drilled – a shallower well to a depth of 340 meters, and a deeper 820-meter well.
