EEP confirms 25 MW at Aluto Langano geothermal project in Ethiopia

An agreement has been reached with the World Bank to excavate four more wells, the project will be completed until September 2024. While Aluto Langano is the site of a previously operating geothermal power plant, it has though not been producing for many years. The project has seen some delay after drilling started in 2021.

Microsoft, G42 to invest on geothermal-powered data centre in Kenya

The letter of intent formalizing this relationship will be signed on 24 May 2024 during the state visit of Kenyan President William Ruto to the USA. As part of the agreement, G42 will be working with local partners to build a data centre campus that will run on geothermal power and will run Microsoft Azure for a new East Africa Cloud Region.
