Indonesia’s state-owned geothermal developer and operator PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGEO) is preparing capital expenditure of IDR 8.74 trillion or approximately USD 550 million throughout 2024 to fund an ambitious goal of increasing geothermal capacity up to 1 GW within the next two years.

An agreement has been reached with the World Bank to excavate four more wells, the project will be completed until September 2024. While Aluto Langano is the site of a previously operating geothermal power plant, it has though not been producing for many years. The project has seen some delay after drilling started in 2021.

Kenya’s state-owned electric power generation company KenGen has announced a new tender for “Consultancy services for feasibility study on geothermal power generation brine in KenGen Olkaria Field.” Expressions of Interest in English must be received on or before 28 February 2024.
