Hitachi Energy to supply converter stations for Australia’s Marinus Link

Hitachi Energy’s tech will convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) for long-distance transmission and DC to AC, where the power is returned to the grid. The Marinus Link will use advanced converter technology at both ends of the link to stabilise and integrate more renewables into the power grid.

Octopus Australia acquires 1GWh transmission-connected battery project

The renewable energy developer and fund manager purchased the project from Firm Power, a battery energy storage systems (BESS) developer. Once operational, the project will store and dispatch 1GWh of electricity, supporting peak demand on the power grid and providing power to approximately 70,000 homes for one day.
