Our economic activity is also the root cause of the release of toxins and nanomaterials, removal of habitat, overharvesting of wild species, the introducing of non-native species, soil erosion, acidification of oceans etc. The argument in favour of nuclear power (for example) blindly accepts the need for material consumption to keep rising.
