Nitrous oxide is a greenhouse gas and one of the main stratospheric ozone depleting substances on the planet. TgN y-1 (approximately 10% of the global total) between 2000–2005 and 2010–2015. This is particularly relevant in regions like East Asia, where nitrogen fertilizer could be used more efficiently without reducing crop yields.
