Deforestation and forest degradation are the second leading causes of global warming, responsible for about 15 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions. To gage progress, 12 forestry experts camp in the forest, monitoring 400 sample plots and measuring trees to calculate how much carbon they store based on their biomass.
