Zorlu Energy obtains geothermal operation license in Aydin, Türkiye

(Zorlu Geothermal) has obtained a 30-year operating license for its Kuyucak and Nazilli geothermal resource exploration sites in Aydin, Türkiye, Enerji Gunlugu reported. MW in geothermal and 272 MW in wind energy, accounting for 78% of the company’s total installed capacity in Türkiye from renewable energy sources.

Successful drilling reported at Kirchweidach geothermal project, Germany

Drilling for the project started back in January 2023 , initially targeting a depth of 3500 meters. This was reached in May 2023, but well testing indicated that the flowrate of the well did not support commercial operations although the temperature was sufficiently high at 125 °C.

CKW plans geothermal development in Lucerne, Switzerland

Power generation and distribution company CKW AG has announced plans to explore for and potentially develop a geothermal heat and power facility in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. Electricity generated from the future geothermal facility can also be fed into CKW’s medium-voltage network.
