Introducing silicon into automotive-grade lithium-ion cells has been a major topic in the EV industry in the past decade. The lithium basically leaks from the cathode, and if you add more, you’ll actually decrease the energy density of the cell. As far as we know, we’re the first commercial effort to do this.
