LNG boom threatens to release vast amounts of methane, a powerful climate pollutant that is the main component of natural gas. While that blast was contained, a vapor cloud explosion at an LNG terminal in Algeria in 2004 killed 27 people. LNG production is projected to increase dramatically in the U.S., LNG exports by 2030.
