KS Orka has announced the start of commercial operations of the 50-MW Sorik Marapi Unit 4 geothermal power plant in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

KS Orka Renewables Pty Ltd (KS Orka), via subsidiary PT Sorik Marapi Geothermal Power (PT SMGP), has announced the start of commercial operations of the 50-MW Sorik Marapi Unit 4 geothermal power plant in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

With the acceptance of the Unit Rated Capacity Test for Sorik Marapi Unit 4, it officially commenced commercial operation on December 16, 2023 and is now ready to supply electricity to the North Sumatra grid owned by PT PLN (Persero).

The start of commercial operations of Unit 4 indicates the successful further expansion of the Sorik Marapi geothermal field. The 50-MW Unit 3 power plant came online in late 2022, complementing the 45-MW Unit 2 and 45-MW Unit 1.

In mid-2023, KS Orka also announced COD of the 3-MW Sokoria Unit 2 geothermal power plant in East Nusa Tenggara.
