JOGMEC holds Geothermal Workshop in Yokohama, Japan

JOGMEC with IEA Geothermal held a Geothermal Workshop in Yokohama, Japan, facilitating information exchange between local and international geothermal experts.
On October 6, 2023, JOGMEC, in collaboration with the International Energy Agency Geothermal Sector (IEA Geothermal), held a “Geothermal Workshop” for geothermal experts from Japan and abroad in Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
This event was held in conjunction with the IEA Geothermal Executive Committee with the aim of promoting geothermal use domestically and internationally through international technical exchange. JOGMEC has been serving as the Japan representative for IEA Geothermal since 2013.
During the workshop, geothermal experts from Europe and other countries and abroad gave nine lectures on the latest technological trends in above-ground equipment for geothermal plants, based on the theme of “Maximizing Heat and Electricity, Minimizing Environmental Impact.” Each lecture introduced technological developments and examples from actual plants to minimize environmental impact while maximizing power generation and heat supply.
A total of 58 people (43 from Japan, 15 from overseas) participated in this workshop from various industries and industries, including energy development-related companies and research institutions. Lecture materials from the day and details of the geothermal workshop will be made available on JOGMEC’s ??”Geothermal Resources Information” website.
Furthermore, after the geothermal workshop, an information exchange session was held with the aim of exchanging technology and knowledge and strengthening relationships between the speakers and participants.
JOGMEC will continue to provide useful information for geothermal resource development by Japanese private companies through events such as seminars and workshops.
