Geothermal market actors are invited to an Executive Hearing presenting policy recommendations at the European Parliament in Brussels on 10 October 2023.

Registration is currently open for an Executive Hearing by the European Parliament’s energy (ITRE) committee where the policy recommendations will be presented to facilitate the deployment of geothermal in Europe. The event will be held at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium on the 10th of October 2023, 11 AM.

Market actors from the geothermal sector are invited to participate in this hearing to present their views. Those who are interested in participating can register via this link. The deadline to register is on the 5th of October 2023.

The European Parliament’s energy committee agreed to prepare an Own Initiative Report (INI) report on geothermal. This is a non-binding statement of the European Parliament’s view on a specific subject. With the presentation of the policy recommendations, this can help set up the new Parliament and Commission agendas on geothermal.

This EP hearing is a unique opportunity to exchange policy recommendations.

This event will provide an opportunity to identify the most effective means to accelerate geothermal energy across the EU with policy leaders, key geothermal industry representatives, and representatives from NGOs. Market actors from the geothermal sector are invited to participate in this hearing to present their views.

Geothermal energy provides permanent, non-weather dependent supplies of baseload renewable electricity, heating, free cooling, seasonal thermal and electricity storage as well as the most sustainable means of extracting lithium and other raw materials. Yet it is only 2% of final electricity and heating production.
