Teverra and the Permian Energy Development Laboratory have entered a partnership to jointly develop projects on geothermal and other advanced energy fields.

Atlanta-based Teverra and the Permian Energy Development Laboratory (PEDL) have formed a partnership to explore and pursue joint projects for the development of next-generation energy solutions. The target areas for the projects include:

  • Subsurface energy storage design, modeling, and development
  • Geothermal resource assessment and development
  • Geomechanics, wellbore stability, frac design, and reservoir engineering
  • Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage

  • Hydrogen storage

The partnership will cover the identification and execution of projects, pursuing joint grant and funding opportunities, and the exchange of best practices and experiences to strengthen the capabilities and knowledge-base of both organizations.

Teverra had just recently been awarded a geothermal evaluation contract by the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (EMC) to conduct a comprehensive analysis of geothermal resources throughout the state, as well as a federal defense department contract for a geothermal initiative at Fort Wainwright in Alaska.

“The energy sector is at a critical moment—an exciting moment—because there’s greater attention and investment in a range of advanced energy technologies than ever before,” said Hamed Soroush, Founder and CEO of Teverra. “We see our partnership with the Permian Energy Development Lab as an important step to the future of energy—an advanced, decarbonized energy economy.”

The PEDL is a a New Mexico- and Texas-based consortium of colleges, universities, and national laboratories. It is dedicated to advancing energy research, fostering innovation and creating value for energy communities through collaboration with academic institutions, industry partners and government agencies. The nonprofit had recently announced collaborations development of solar power and other advanced energy technologies in Yoakum County, Texas.

“Teverra brings standout geothermal experience to the table—and that’s a big deal for our Permian consortium and for the U.S. advanced energy sector,” said Marilu Hastings of the Permian Energy Development Lab. “We’re grateful for their expertise. And I know they share our commitment to advanced energy R&D in service of Permian communities.”
