The Coeur Martinique license area - the first exclusive geothermal exploration license in Martinique - has been awarded to French company TLS Geothermics.

French geothermal development company TLS Geothermics has been awarded The “Cœur Martinique” geothermal research license – the first exclusive license to research geothermal resources in Martinique. Covering an area of 133 sq. km., the exploration license was granted via a ministerial decree dated 11 September 2023.

Back in 2021, a consortium of Engie, TLS Geothermics, and Storengy was announced as the winner for a call for expression of interest for geothermal cooling distribution network in Martinique. In early 2022, President of the Executive Council of Martinique Serge Letchimy held talks with Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to cooperate for geothermal development, and possibly for the supply of renewable energy from Dominica to Martinique.
