Testing continues for a 35.9-C geothermal resource confirmed after drilling in the Erciyes Mountain in Kayseri, Türkiye.

According to the written statement made by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor Memduh Buyukkilic examined the geothermal well works on Erciyes Mountain in Kayseri in Central Anatolia, Türkiye.

In the works carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality, it is aimed to reach hot water above 50 degrees Celsius by drilling down to 420 meters on Mount Erciyes. Geothermal fluid at 35.9 degrees Celsius had been confirmed at a depth of 385 meters.

As part of the studies, testing of the water sent to the KASKI laboratory continues. Mayor Buyukkilic stated that the work on thermal water in Erciyes is nearing completion.

Stating that the preliminary data indicate that the studies on thermal water will result positively, Mayor Buyukkilic said, “We are continuing our work to further clarify and conclude this. I hope this work, which will make the greatest contribution to our Erciyes, will result as we hope. We hope that our hotels will have thermal facilities to provide service in the summer as well. Congratulations on the work done.”

“We would also like to thank our Korusu company, the pride of Kayseri, for carrying out these works,” he said.

Buyukkilic emphasized that hot water has been reached in the region, but technically the work has not been completed yet and said, “Hot water has been reached, it has gone down further, we have seen that everyone welcomed it with joy, but the work that will technically result in the way we desire has not been completed yet. We hope and believe that we will be happy,” he said.

Earlier this year, we reported on a geothermal greenhouse project being developed in the City of Kayseri. The project has been described as a “mega-investment” and is expected to provide employment for at least a thousand people, primarily women, and to provide specialization in agriculture, with production for 11 months.
