Registration is now open for an in-person workshop on wellbore modeling using Volsung on 31 May 2024 in Reykjavik University, Iceland.

Registration is now open for the “Volsung: Wellbore Modeling workshop” by Seequent. This will be a four-hour, instructor-led session where participants can learn about techniques to better model and assess geothermal wells using the Volsung wellbore simulator.

Registration for the workshop is free but requires in-person attendance at the Reykjavik University in Iceland. Participant slots are limited to ensure a quality training experience. Once the registration limit is reached, additional registrants will be added to a waitlist and notified if a spot becomes available.

The details for the workshop are as follows:

Date: 31 May 2024

Time: 9 AM -1 PM GMT

Location: Reykjavik University – 1, 102 Menntavegur, Reykjavík, Reykjavíkurborg, 101

Registration: Click here to register

Speakers: Vaiva Cypaite, Customer Solutions Specialist & Jonathon Clearwater, Technical Domain Expert, Reservoir Engineering

The Volsung wellbore simulator is designed with visual features and, built on sound physical principles, provides detailed wellbore models in less time, enabling greater insight into well performance. The course will cover the following topics:

  • Setting up a wellbore model in Volsung: Defining the well track, casing, heat loss and feed zone properties
  • Defining thermodynamic conditions of the fluid
  • Specifying field data
  • Calibrating the model to flowing pressure, temperature, and spinner (PTS) data
  • Calculating a production well deliverability curve
  • Forecasting changes in well performance in response to changes in reservoir and well conditions

The workshop is also an excellent side event for those who are attending the 5th Iceland Geothermal Conference.
