As part of the regular Focus on Geothermal Webinar series – a partnership of Enerchange and ThinkGeoEnergy – we are proud to host Daniel Jaskulski from Herrenknecht AG for a webinar on “UrbanVibroTruck – New innovative mobile shaker for reflection seismology specially optimized for use in urban areas.”

In this webinar, Daniel will tell us about the Herrenknecht UrbanVibroTruck, a mobile P-wave vibrator for use in reflection seismic surveys. It is the result of project implemented with close collaboration between the Geophysical Institute of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Herrenknecht AG, and funded by the Federal Government of Germany.

Subsurface mapping is necessary to locate geothermal heat sources and assess its heat source potentials. The technology is therefore a crucial prerequisite for a successful transition to a decarbonized heat and power supply industry.

The new mobile P-wave vibrator will provide best performance in urban seismic surveys. Its maneuverability, agility and modern design will significantly improve the machine handling within urban regions, towns and cities. In addition, the machine complies with European standards and has EU road approval. All this will contribute to raise the general public’s acceptance on conducting Vibroseis surveys in urban regions.

The new mobile vibrator’s shaker provides broad frequency band capability with high peak force output at low frequencies. The improved system design brings better source signal quality that leads to deeper penetration depth compared to other state-of-the-art products.

Daniel Jaskulski is Division Manager for New Applications at Herrenknecht AG, Germany. Daniel began his career as an automotive mechatronics technician apprentice and still maintains a great interest in vehicle construction. After earning a postgraduate degree, he joined Herrenknecht AG as a fluid engineer in 2009. In 2021, he assumed leadership of the division now known as New Applications, which concentrates on developing new products.
