Practicing self-care is essential for living a long, happy, and productive life. Unfortunately, it isn't easy to find the time or energy to help yourself. So, here's how to practice self-care for your environment, your body, and your mind.

1. Your Environment

While self-care may seem like a completely personal project, it has a lot to do with your surroundings. Everything around you, from your friends to the ecosystem, can influence your wellbeing. Because of this, you’ll want to begin your journey by evaluating your environment. Start with who you keep close. Almost everyone has a toxic relationship or two that results in damage.

While you don’t need to cut off all ties, try to minimize contact with this individual. On the other hand, you’ll want to strengthen your relationships with those that help you. Next, look at your literal environment. After all, climate change is steadily becoming a greater issue. While you may not be able to make large changes, you can contribute in your own way.

Start by determining your major impacts on the environment. If you drive a long distance to work, this is probably the majority of your carbon footprint. On the other hand, those who live with several people likely use a lot of water and electricity. Once you’ve determined your main issue, you can then start to fix it. Finally, consider helping an environment-based nonprofit.

2. Your Body

Helping your body is crucial for maintaining health. First and foremost, remember to stay natural and green. Naturally-derived items like metabolism support supplements should be focused on. Unfortunately for frozen food-lovers, putting too many processed foods into your body can be incredibly detrimental. When it comes to creating a diet, never be too hard on yourself. Not everyone is healthy with a skinny body.

Instead, simply improve upon your current diet. Start by adding natural foods to every meal. If you’re used to having red meat at night, add a salad on the side. If you want a smoothie, put some spinach or kale in it. You can find a lot of great green recipes online! Once you’ve gotten used to this, you can begin to create entirely natural meals.

Avoid white flour, utilize dark leafy greens and create dishes from scratch. Sure, this is time-consuming. However, the effort is often well worth the payoff. Your body will certainly thank you! Another thing to focus on is physical exercise. While making the effort to do a workout can be tedious, you’ll probably feel a lot better afterward.

Find ways to work out that you enjoy. If you don’t like the gym, you can try a dance or sports classes. Afterward, try to set a concrete schedule. Don’t allow yourself to take multiple days off. Your goal should be to work out for at least 30 minutes a day.

3. Your Mind

Your mind is, arguably, the most influential factor in your health. After all, your mental health determines how you’ll handle your environment and body. Because of this, it’s extremely important to continue supporting your mind. Start by finding someone to confide in. While you may not feel like you need a therapist, everyone can benefit from discussing things with a non-biased party.

You may begin to discover ways to keep yourself happy. Another thing to try is meditation. This practice, which is often paired with yoga, allows users to link the body and mind. You can gain a greater understanding of how you’re feeling, as well as how your mind works. While this may seem highly conceptual, it’s worth trying out. Finally, few things beat hanging out with friends.

No matter how much you like being alone, hanging with others provides an escape. It allows you to get out of any depressive spirals you may be feeling. So, be sure to reach out if you’re ever feeling melancholy. You can read more on this topic through sources like The National Counseling Society.

No matter what state you’re in, you always deserve some self-care. Take some time for yourself and enjoy your healthy lifestyle!
