GM expanding into new commercial applications for its HYDROTEC fuel cell systems
Talk about irony! One of the first big uses of hydrogen fuel cell power looks to be -- wait for it -- powering fast charging stations for battery EVs.
It kind of makes logistical sense. The stations would be in areas either off-grid or lacking grid connections of the strength needed to support fast charging stations. The HYDROTEC units are mobile, so could be brought in to serve places like national parks and other areas with seasonally heavy traffic and power needs. They'd also be good for disaster relief operations.
