Any solar panel located in space has enormous advantages over the ones we have here on Earth. They can be located so that they never are inside Earth’s shadow. That means 24 hours of continuous sunlight. They never have to deal with seasonality, cloud cover, and other atmospheric conditions that could reduce the energy yield.

Transmitting this collected solar energy to Earth using diffuse microwave beams would be revolutionary.

This is great news. Solar in Space can be 24/7 . I want to see the microware for power used on transmission here on earth so it will not spoint the views in some areas. QUOTE = Transmitting this collected solar energy to Earth using diffuse microwave beams would be revolutionary.

The use of diffuse microwave transmission is quite an exciting invention. I can imagine energy beaming to receivers on Earth anywhere. What these will look like is still a mystery to me. Would this be like having a satellite dish that collects electricity and distributes it to a home? Could every device requiring power become a receiver at some point in the near future similar to the way we send and receive telecommunications today? I'm looking forward to learning more about this technology in the coming months and sharing the information with readers here at Energy Central and on my blog site at 21stcentech.com.
