The Tesla Semi has completed a 500-mile trip. I mean with a load weighing 81,000 pounds. That’s from Tesla owner Elon Musk  I mean he tweeted Saturday.

Basics of the Semi

Can you say three independent motors provide instant torque and unmatched power. That’s at any speed. All so drivers can merge safely and keep pace with traffic. Accelerate from 0-60 mph in 20 seconds! I mean fully loaded. Moreover and maintain highway-level speeds even up steep grades.

Combination trucks account for about 18 percent of U.S. vehicle emissions—Semi will help change that. With less than 2 kWh per mile of energy consumption, Semi can travel up to 500 miles on a single charge. Recover up to 70 percent of range in 30 minutes using special Tesla Chargers.

Do I remember when Tesla just started. To realize where they are today is a blessing.

Test Runs

The first test run is an important step for the Austin, Texas. That’s for the company’s all-electric Class 8 commercial truck. Tesla’s Semi program has suffered repeated delays. That’s including the departure of a key executive and supply chain issues. Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) first announced the Semi-truck back in 2017.

The Semi truck’s first deliveries are scheduled to PepsiCo subsidiary Frito-Lay sometime over the next several weeks. Tesla has already installed a Megacharger on a Frito-Lay distribution site in Modesto, California.

Along with PepsiCo, the Semi has attracted thousands of orders from fleets. Mass production of the Semi — up to 50,000 units per year — is expected to take place at Tesla’s Austin Gigafactory, which also produces the Model Y electric vehicle.

According to Tesla, the truck will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 20 seconds for a fully loaded truck with a combined gross combination weight of 82,000 pounds.

In conclusion, the estimated fuel savings versus a conventional diesel-powered truck is $200,000 over three years.
