FERC issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPR) for creating these new accounts for wind, solar, and other non-hydro renewable assets, energy storage, renewable energy credits, and technology.

Comments can be made for 45 days after publishing in the Federal Register.

This is a welcome addition to your chart of accounts and will stop the need to customize account numbers, plus be an aid in performing and refining electric cost of service studies.

Seems pretty straightforward-- is there any notable opposition to this?

Thanks for the question, Matt. This is long overdue. The most recent version of the FERC USOA is from the 1960's, with a bit of an update in the 1990's for market based activities.
