In this day and age of green living, it is everyone’s responsibility to promote more environmentally-friendly practices and create living conditions that reduce the carbon footprint to a minimum. One of the biggest contributors to our impact on the climate is gas-powered vehicles. And while we are making a slow but steady transition to EVs, that doesn’t mean that there is nothing we can do about our current cars to make them more eco-friendly.

The following car accessories can help you reduce the carbon footprint of your gas-powered vehicle. With just these two simple accessories, you can do your part in reducing humanity’s carbon footprint.

Eco-Friendly Recyclable Car Mats

Car floor mats are typically made of rubber material, with a special weave integrated into it. While these are great materials to keep the interior of the car clean, they are not the most environmentally friendly. So, if you’re looking for a more eco-friendly car mat, try one made of recyclable material.

These car floor mats are around the same price as your standard rubber ones, however, the material and textile that it is made of are recyclable and do not harm the environment when thrown out. This may seem like a very small addition, but consider how many cars there are on the road today. All of them have 4 car mats each, so when they get thrown out once every few years, that’s a lot of non-recyclable trash in the world.

Next time you’re replacing your car floor mats, consider buying ones that can be recycled and won’t harm the environment after they have served their purpose. It’s a small step, but one with the potential to make big changes in the future.

Car Covers

Car protection is not solely relegated to keeping the interior in one piece. The exterior of your car is also quite important and a car wash is an important maintenance. However, take into account just how much water is needed to wash the car every time it rains.

There’s also Murphy’s Law. For example, on the same day that you wash your car, it will rain and dirty it up. So now, you have to get a car wash twice in one day. That is a huge waste of water. Especially when you take into account how millions of cars across the world go through the same thing.

Instead of washing your car every time it rains, why not simply drape a car cover that will protect it from the moisture and allow it to escape easily, leaving few to no spots on your vehicle. Most of those nasty, gray spots on your car after rainfall result from the rainwater drying up.

But with a car cover, you don’t have to wash your car as often.  You conserve water and save time and money from going to the car wash on a weekly basis.
