EPA confirms 250-mile range for Volkswagen ID.4

Volkswagen of America has announced official fuel economy figures for the 2021 ID.4 electric SUV. The first two variants to be launched—ID.4 1st Edition and ID.4 Pro—each have an EPA-estimated 250 miles of range; estimated fuel economy of 104 MPGe in city driving; 89 MPGe on the highway; and 97 MPGe combined.

Both variants feature an 82 kWh (gross) battery and a rear-mounted AC permanent-magnet synchronous motor with 201 horsepower and 228 pound-feet of torque. Both feature CCS DC fast charging. VW says that, at 125 kW, the ID.4 can charge from 5 to 80 percent in about 38 minutes.

ID.4 buyers will receive 3 years of free unlimited charging sessions with Electrify America, which operates more than 470 charging stations and over 2,000 DC fast chargers, including a newly completed cross-country route from Washington DC to LA.

The 2021 ID.4 is on sale now. Pricing for the rear-wheel-drive ID.4 Pro starts at $39,995. A 302 hp, all-wheel-drive variant is scheduled to go on sale in 2021.
