Premo releases 50 kW transformer module for air-cooled EV charging stations

Spanish electronic components manufacturer Premo has released a 50 kW off-board charger transformer set incorporating advanced design elements to optimize performance and thermal management in EVs.

The module for air-cooled EV charging stations is engineered to meet the demanding power requirements of modern EVs. Its 300 x 174 x 100 mm aluminum enclosure and embedded resonant choke for LLC (LCLC) architecture supply power with over 99% efficiency. This ensures minimal power loss, reducing overall energy consumption and promoting sustainable charging practices, the company said.

The Premo patented technology features internal fins and Coolmag thermo-conductive material to help dissipate heat. Triple-Insulated Litz wires also provide thermal dissipation and reduce the danger of damage from temperature variations. Furthermore, the distributed gap multicore architecture with manganese-zinc (MnZn) ferrite cores improves transformer protection and thermal stability, the company claims.
