These days you can’t travel more than a few miles without passing an Amazon vehicle. Whether it’s those familiar vans or 18-wheelers in the interstate. In a world obsessed with instant gratification, I’m not sure many people give much thought to the impact those vehicles have on climate change.

The good news is that Amazon has given it thought, and the company has just reached an important milestone. They have now deployed 10,000 Rivian electric vans in the U.S., each with a range of up to 150 miles. Amazon launched its zero-emission fleet last summer and it already services 1,800 cities and is supported by 12,000 chargers at over 100 delivery stations.

Amazon shows what can be done if you have the desire - and deep pockets. Still, the company has a long way to go. Amazon’s total delivery fleet consists of  more than 100,000 vans and 50,000 trailers – and that’s just the Amazon-branded vehicles.

The company has set a goal of deploying 100,000 electric vehicles by 2030. They are off to a good start. Hopefully for the climate’s sake, they will achieve their 2030 goal.

Thanks fot that good news. I’m sure Amazon realizes that reducing their carbon footprint  is good business.
