Our countries, states, corporations, and our planet have set ambitious zero emission goals, then not having made much progress reset them. For example, the Zero Emission goal for India was reset from 2040 to 2070!  “Net zero policies are best understood as the latest manifestation of a dysfunctional climate policy system” “The end result of all these diversions has been the same — no effective mitigation.” Emissions today are 60 percent above the level of 1992, the year the world first agreed at the Rio Earth Summit to prevent “dangerous” climate change. ”Net zero is just the latest example of wishful thinking that effectively stops us critically reflecting on why we have failed,” The most knowledgeable people agree there has been “no effective mitigation” As the United Nations stated  “Greenhouse gas emissions keep growing, global temperatures keep rising, and our planet is fast approaching tipping points that will make climate chaos irreversible.”

A big change in net zero planning and implementation is needed and Save Earth Mission has a plan with much promise. Save Earth Mission (SEM) says Zero Emission India 2070 and Zero Emission Earth 2040 are examples of “too little, too late” and that Zero Emission India 2036 and Zero Emission Earth 2039 are possible and badly needed. Every year of zero emission delay is a year of more damage to our planet instead of necessary healing. The path to dynamic improvements in energy demand and emission reductions runs through the building sector. Buildings use over 72% of the electricity and the majority of the heating fuels while producing over 40% of carbon emission. Meaningful zero emission or emission reduction plans must address making our buildings much more energy efficient. The badly needed element SEM is adding is the roadmap of getting from today to the stated goals, SEM is creating a task force of “motivated global efficiency professionals to show how this can be accomplished.” With great planning, SEM expects to exceed these goals while lowering projected costs due to better utilization of funding and resources and some economies of scale.

Zero Emission India and Earth Task Force will be announced by August 1st.2023.If you want to be part of this important effort you can submit an application on the Save Earth Mission website- https://saveearthmission.com  India is the initial target because India is on the on the frontline for climate change damage. India is getting hotter faster than most of our planet and they have a higher per capita use of coal generated energy which is the most damaging. The measures used to assure India reaches its zero emission goal will be used regionally then globally! Zero emission goals are missed and reset because there is no set plan and monitoring, SEM is confident this task force can change that and we can then meet our goals and begin the real healing. Time is NOT on our side and this can make a huge difference.
