Introduction to Genesis GV70 Electric

Genesis gone GV70 electric. For it has unveiled the Electrified GV70 at the Auto Guangzhou 2021 event in China. Thereby presenting a new model for their sustainable future vision. The vehicle is a luxury electric SUV. One that builds on the heritage of the GV70 with added performance and technology exclusively for electric vehicles. During the world premiere event, Genesis provided an introduction to its vision for electrification. One that also discussed the design of the GV70. In addition to presenting its market strategy for China. The new model boasts a competitive range of over 500km or 310 miles. Moreover, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. It is also equipped with innovative technology. For that’s such as the Vehicle to Load feature. That which can support a 3.6kW charge to a home. So it allows customers to use the EV battery for appliances. Yes, I mean outside of the vehicle.

  1. Electrified GV70
  2. G80 luxury sedan
  3. GV80 luxury SUand two G70 models at Auto Guangzhou 2021.

Genesis: Sustainability Commitment

The Electrified GV70 builds on the heritage of the GV70. Thereby inheriting its predecessor’s spacious interior. Also, adding outstanding performance and a host of new technologies exclusively for electric vehicles.

During the event, Genesis showcased an Electrified GV70 with an Atacama Copper Matte exterior.[1] On the exterior, the front displays a careful consideration for aerodynamic efficiency and function.

Design

Genesis’ signature Crest Grille has evolved into an aerodynamic crest that features an inverted G-Matrix pattern and incorporates a hidden electric charging port, creating a minimalist yet sophisticated look.

The minimalist horizontal shape of the rear bumper completes the model’s modern image. A simplified, tailpipe-free skid plate emphasizes the SUV’s electric nature. All the while the iconic and progressive Two Line Quad Lamps. Thereby putting the finishing touch on the electric version of GV70. The one with Genesis’ signature Two Lines architecture.

The interior boasts a driver-focused design. Thereby offering an intuitive and dynamic driving experience. Inspired by the ‘Beauty of White Space’ interior design concept, the Electrified GV70 offers customers the opportunity to write their own story. Especially with an interior that reflects the sustainable ambitions of this electric vehicle, as well as Genesis’ commitment to future sustainability.

A variety of eco-friendly materials furnish the model. Each material features a high-quality finish. Thereby completing a design that embodies Genesis’ vision for sustainable luxury from the inside out. Genesis will also offer the model with a Glacier White interior.

Athleticism

The competitiveness of the Electrified GV70’s interior has been enhanced by lowering the central tunnel to secure an amount of second row space that is equivalent to the GV70.

As an athletic and dynamic vehicle, the Electrified GV70 offers competitive and powerful performance to satisfy drivers.

It will be available only as an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) model. In addition, it has a maximum power output of 160kW and 350Nm of torque for the front and rear. It will deliver a total maximum output of 360kW (in Boost Mode) and 700Nm of torque. This powerful model can go from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds in Boost Mode.[2]

In addition, the Electrified GV70 is the first Genesis model to feature the SUV-specific e-Terrain Mode. One which enables a stable driving experience in various environments.

Furthermore, Genesis’ application of a 400V/800V multi-rapid charging system. One that will allow drivers to utilize various forms of charging infrastructure. The multi-rapid charging system enables fast and stable charging. It also does so by raising the voltage supplied. That’s for typical chargers from 400V to 800V.

Innovative Technology

The technology is optimized thanks to the model’s driving motors and inverters. Customers can use the 800V rapid charging system to utilize both 400V and 800V charging infrastructure. So no need for an additional converter.

The electric version of the GV70 includes a V2L (Vehicle to Load) feature. One also called V2G or Vehicle to Grid. that supports a 3.6kW charge. It’s higher than the power supply in the average home. In addition, it enables customers to conveniently use electric appliances outside of the vehicle.

Regenerative Braking for Genesis GV70

The new model’s driving experience further enhances with a variety of cutting-edge technologies. The Smart Regenerative Braking System creates energy through the braking system based on driving habits. Also real-time navigation and road conditions. In driving mode, the i-Pedal (Intelligent Pedal) allows the driver to accelerate. In addition to decelerate and stop.  That’s using just the accelerator pedal.

Electronic Suspension

The Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Pre-view ECS) supports an optimal driving experience. This suspension system can be controlled based on information collected through the SUV’s front camera and navigation system.
