Drainage firm announces free seminars on geocellular structures, surface water and other topics

Drainage expert ACO Water Management has launched its autumn/winter webinar series, spanning topics and applications to support professionals across all levels within construction.

The free CPDs cover a number of key construction applications, including geocellular structures, highways, and rail. As we head into the winter months, and with October already having recorded the wettest day on record, it is critical that those tasked with delivering construction projects understand the key considerations in effective water management.

The confirmed autumn/winter series will include:
11 November – Geocellular: specify it right
18 November – Managing highways surface water
2 December – Super amphibian highway
9 December – Managing rail surface water

Oliver Collins, Product Marketing Manager – Building + Landscape at ACO Water Management, said: “The construction industry is ever-changing, not just from a technological perspective but also in terms of the environment we are operating in. One of the most challenging aspects of water management is understanding the range of factors that influence the specification, installation, and subsequent maintenance associated with drainage solutions.

“Our autumn/winter CPD series is designed to build that foundation of knowledge, and help attendees get to grips with the range of legislation and regulatory considerations that impact water management. By hosting these webinars for free online, it allows as many people as possible within the industry to take advantage of this knowledge base.”

The Geocellular Structures webinar, which takes place on Wednesday 11 November, focuses on the design, specification, and maintenance of these systems. Attenuation is a requirement for virtually all construction sites across the UK, and with storm events becoming increasingly common, getting them right is crucial.

‘Managing highways surface water’ and ‘Super amphibian highways’, on the 18 November and 2 December respectively, both focus on the role of water management within the UK highway network. The former adopts a broad focus, while the latter hones in on the key biodiversity benefits that can also be offered.

Finally, the water management systems on Network Rail and Transport for London’s networks are covered in ‘managing rail surface water’, on Wednesday 9 December. This has particular relevance for those involved with High Speed Rail 2, and will look at the various codes of practice used for the design of surface water management systems, as well as provide in-depth knowledge of the types of solutions that are available.

Oliver Collins concludes: “ACO understands that knowledge transfer is fundamental for the ongoing success of the construction industry, and that water management plays a central role in ensuring the longevity of a project. The launch of our autumn/winter webinar series reflects this, and is aimed to support everyone involved in water management: from architects, contractors and engineers, through to those involved in surveying, public health or highways.”

All of the webinars will include a Q&A section, and will be made available on-demand for those who wish to receive the content. To view ACO Water Management’s autumn/winter CPD series, visit: https://www.aco.co.uk/AW_webinar_series.
