Logistics firm Schneider to add 100 Class 8 electric trucks to its fleet

Schneider, a provider of transportation, intermodal and logistics services, says it will soon begin taking delivery of nearly 100 Class 8 battery-electric vehicles at its intermodal operations in Southern California.

The company’s first Freightliner eCascadia, manufactured by Daimler in Portland, Oregon, is set to roll off the line. Schneider plans to acquire an additional 30 BEVs from Daimler on top of its previously ordered 62.

The company says the fleet of zero-emission eCascadias will prevent more than 81,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per day. “In combination with rail movement,” remarked Schneider President and CEO Mark Rourke, “we can offer our intermodal customers meaningful emissions reduction value by utilizing BEV dray trucks.”
