Volvo CE investing in electric wheel loaders

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) reports that, as part of its efforts to become fossil-free by 2040, it is investing SEK65 million, or about $6.3 million, in the production of electric wheel loaders at its plant in Arvika, Sweden.

Volvo CE says its plans for the facility, which will specialize in the production of medium and large wheel loaders, call for a new ~1,500-square-meter building for the phased introduction of new electric wheel loaders, helping the company to fulfill its aim that 35% of the machines it sells be electric by 2030.

Volvo CE is also investing in electric haulers at its facility in Braås, Sweden, and advancing production of electric machines at facilities in Konz, Germany; Belley, France; and Changwon, South Korea. The company’s electric range includes the L20 Electric and L25 Electric wheel loaders; ECR25 Electric, ECR18 Electric and EC18 Electric compact excavators; and EC230 Electric excavators.
