Beam Global acquires Amiga, creates Beam Europe

Beam Global, maker of the EV ARC solar-powered charging system, has acquired Europe-based Amiga DOO Kraljevo, a manufacturer of specialized structures and equipment including street lights, communications and energy infrastructure.

Beam Global hopes the acquisition of Amiga, which will be re-branded as Beam Europe, will fast-track its growth into the European market. Beam sees Europe as a promising market for its off-grid, easily deployable products. Compared to the States, vehicle electrification is proceeding more quickly, and historic streets and infrastructure often make it more complicated to deploy grid-tied EV charging.

Beam Global’s solar generation and EV charging products require no construction or electrical work, and do not rely on the utility grid for electricity.

Amiga was founded in 1990, has some 210 employees, and reported over 8.5 million euros in revenue in 2022. The company is a major European manufacturer of street lights, and Beam believes its engineering, product development and manufacturing capabilities are ideally suited to manufacture Beam’s current products for the European market.

“We intend to continue the growth of Amiga’s legacy business while aggressively expanding sales in what I believe is the market with the greatest opportunities for our patented, renewably energized EV charging infrastructure and energy storage products,” said Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley. “Our new European team has 30 years of experience in manufacturing and selling to customers in 16 nations—just the sort of customers who we believe will require EV charging infrastructure products in the coming months and years.”
