ID.7 electric Volkswagen gone big time. For VW is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the unveiling of the new ID.7. For it’s a fastback sedan with impressive features and performance. The ID.7 is set to hit the European market first. Then followed by China. Finally and also eventually the United States in 2024.

Thereby boasting innovative technology and an aerodynamic design. For the ID.7 is going to make a splash in the increasingly competitive EV market.

ID.7: The Next Step in Volkswagen’s Strategy

The ID.7 is the latest addition to Volkswagen’s ID family of electric vehicles. That’s following the success of the compact SUV ID.4.

As we know, they are the first electric sedan from the German automaker in the U.S.  For the ID.7 will be available in two versions. That’s the 77 kWh battery Pro and also the 86 kWh battery Pro S. Both versions come with a motor and support fast charging. For that’s up to to 170 kW. I mean and also 200 kW respectively.

The larger 86 kWh battery version is expected to offer a range of up to 435 miles. All the while the smaller 77 kWh is to have a range of up to 382 miles. Both versions will also deliver 282 horsepower; making the ID.7 a real fighter in the EV ring. Especially in the electric sedan market.

Built on the MEB Electric Platform

Built on Volkswagen’s MEB (modular electric drive matrix) electric platform. So the ID.7 will feature an 86 kWh battery pack. One which is larger than the biggest battery pack available. I mean on the ID.4. The MEB platform has proven to be a successful foundation. Especially for Volkswagen’s electric vehicles. Thereby ensuring that the ID.7 will benefit. Especially from the same cutting-edge technology and engineering.

Aerodynamic and Stylish

The ID.7’s design is based on the ID.Aero concept sedan. One which was unveiled last year in China. The concept sported an aerodynamic front and roof design. One that boosted its estimated range to over 430 miles. The ID.7 carries forward this design. All with a sloped roof. Also one that gives it a drag coefficient of just .23. With a 116.8-inch wheelbase, the ID.7 will be a midsize sedan. For that’s comparable in length to the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air. However and with a more modest luxury offering.

ID.7 electric VW

The primary competitor for the ID.7 will be Hyundai’s electric sporty sedan, the Ioniq 6. However, there are still few electrified sedans in the non-luxury space, making the ID.7 an attractive option for those looking for an electric vehicle without the luxury price tag.

ID.7 History: Successor to the e-Golf

The ID.7 follows in the footsteps of the e-Golf, Volkswagen’s electrified Golf hatchback that saw sales peak in 2019 before being discontinued to make way for the ID.3 and ID.4 production in Europe in 2020. With the success of the e-Golf and the growing popularity of electric vehicles, the ID.7 is well-positioned to make an impact in the market.

ID.7 Interior: Tech-Forward and Comfortable

The interior of the ID.7 is designed with advanced technology and comfort in mind. A smart panoramic sunroof can switch between opaque and transparent settings, while voice control is available throughout the cabin. Advanced driver assistance features include Travel Assist for assisted lane changes during highway driving, adaptive climate control for the front seats, and a standard AR head-up display.

The AR head-up display projects a digital layer over the real world, providing helpful information like turn arrows directly onto the street when navigation says to turn. The front panel is neat and organized, featuring optional ambient lighting and a 15-inch infotainment system with natural language voice control. Smart air vents provide improved cooling and heating patterns and respond to voice commands.

Comfort is also a priority in the ID.7, with new ergoComfort seats offering massage and 10 air cushions that target pressure points. The seats can be adjusted 14 different ways, and the climate settings automatically adapt to temperature and moisture levels inside the cabin.

ID.7 Cargo Space: Maximizing Utility

Thanks to the low-lying battery pack and hatchback opening, the ID.7 offers ample interior space for both passengers and cargo. The smart design ensures that occupants have plenty of room to stretch out and relax while still providing enough space for luggage and other essentials.

ID.7 Smart Roof: Adaptive Technology at its Finest

One of the standout features of the ID.7 is the smart roof, which can change opacity depending on the driver’s preference or the amount of sunlight outside. This adaptive technology not only enhances the driving experience but also showcases Volkswagen’s commitment to innovation in the electric vehicle space.

ID.7 Pricing and Availability: Coming Soon

Volkswagen has yet to announce pricing for the ID.7 in the U.S, but it’s expected to be competitive given the ID.4’s starting price of under $40,000. For reference, Volkswagen’s non-electric Jetta GLI starts at just over $31,000, and the Arteon starts at $42,000. European pricing is expected to be announced shortly.

The ID.7 will be produced at Volkswagen’s Emden plant in Germany, with deliveries beginning in Europe and China later this year. North American customers can expect the ID.7 to arrive in dealerships in 2024.

Volkswagen’s Electric Future: Ambitious Plans Ahead

Volkswagen has ambitious plans for its electric vehicle lineup, with 10 new electric cars set to launch within the next three years. Since the introduction of the ID.3 in Europe in September 2020, Volkswagen has already delivered 500,000 ID vehicles globally. With the ID.7 joining the lineup soon, Volkswagen continues to solidify its position as a major player in the electric vehicle market.

In conclusion, the Volkswagen ID.7 offers an impressive combination. That’s of performance and technology. Also design, in a sleek and aerodynamic package. Especially as the electric vehicle market continues to grow. For the ID.7 is set to make a strong impression. Finally and further establish Volkswagen as a leader in the space.
