Women entrepreneurs are at the heart of Solar Sister’s work. Their stories are our story. In 2015, Solar Sister launched the #WESHINE campaign, with the support of ENERGIA and Show the Good, to share the inspiring stories of our women entrepreneurs. We wanted to show the world that these women are not waiting, they are pulling themselves and their communities out of energy poverty. The first #WESHINE stories were bright and inspiring videos narrated by six Solar Sister entrepreneurs from Tanzania.

Today, we are excited to share more inspiring stories with support of ENERGIA and the design wizardry of Holliday Ink — this time from women entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

#WESHINE is a campaign that shares powerful stories of the women driving the movement to bring clean energy to all.

Sharing our entrepreneurs’ stories is still an essential part of Solar Sister’s work to empower women and spread clean energy. These stories show that when you give women opportunity and support, they transform their communities. These stories show, as Neha Misra says, that “women are the greatest untapped renewable resource in the world!”

If you are touched by these stories, share them — on social media, over a cup of tea with a friend, at work, at school. The act of sharing these stories is an act of advocacy: they make women visible.

Join us in advocating for a “seat at the table” for women at the frontlines of a clean energy movement. Show the world that women are not just victims of energy poverty, but are driving a movement to transform last-mile communities with solar light and clean energy.

Be a part of the #WESHINE campaign!
