Equipmake and Beulas unveil electric double-decker bus with 250-mile range

Vehicle electrification specialist Equipmake and Spanish coachbuilder Beulas have partnered to develop an electric double-decker bus. The new Jewel E features an electric powertrain designed and developed at Equipmake’s facility in Norfolk, UK, along with a body produced by Beulas in Girona, Spain. Equipmake’s Zero Emission Drivetrain (ZED) is modular and scalable, capable of supporting different bus sizes.

Fraunhofer Institute’s new dry-coating process reduces environmental impact

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute have developed a new dry-coating process that’s designed to reduce the environmental impact of electrode manufacturing. The Institute says its new DRYtraec process uses machines that do not require long drying tracks, and will take up less space than conventional battery electrode manufacturing systems. The new coating process uses similar raw materials as the slurry process, but with a binder instead of solvents.
