London-based architecture firm Featherstone Young recently completed Stonecrop, a new home in Rutland, East Midlands that’s also an example of how thoughtful architecture can draw new interest to declining rural communities. Topped with a sloping green roof that touches the ground, the sculptural building features two wings — one that houses the main living areas and the other for guest quarters — that wrap around a central courtyard.

Private equity fund Blackstone Energy Partners has bought its way into the commercial and industrial energy storage market by acquiring Toronto-based NRStor C&I. The deal, announced Wednesday, gives Blackstone a portfolio of 200 megawatt-hours of customer-sited storage in operation, under construction or under contract. It marks a particular vote of confidence in the Ontario market, which has become one of the most dynamic regions in North America for large behind-the-meter storage.

Porsche claims that the 7 MW facility, which is supplied entirely by renewable energy sources, is Europe’s most powerful rapid charging park. Electric vehicles don’t have enough range for all uses. While they contain an element of truth, all of these arguments are built on the myth that unless greener options can universally replace the status quo, then they are useless.
