Including Waste-to-Energy in the EU ETS won’t help sustainable waste management, says trade group

A trade group comprising European suppliers of waste-to-energy technology, ESWET welcomed a recent opportunity to contribute to the EU Emissions Trading System’s revision (EU ETS). The waste management sector bears an essential role in the EU’s ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the group explained in a statement in early February.

Virginia to become the next zero-emission vehicle state

The Virginia Senate has passed a bill that would establish California-style clean car standards in the state. The bill, HB 1965 , creates low-emission vehicle (LEV) and zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) programs. It will strengthen regulations on tailpipe emissions, and require automakers to sell a certain number of ZEVs in Virginia. Governor Ralph Northam is expected to sign the bill into law.
