NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), the eco-focused arm of India’s premier power producer NTPC Limited, is partnering with the global downstream energy powerhouse Nayara Energy. The collaboration was solidified today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming to unlock potential in the realm of green hydrogen and broader energy sectors.
The MoU, endorsed by NGEL’s CEO Shri Mohit Bhargava and Nayara Energy’s Head-Technical Shri Amar Kumar, is set to pave the way for green hydrogen production targeted for Nayara Energy’s in-house use. The synergy between the two giants aims to catalyze a more sustainable energy blueprint for India, pushing the boundaries of decarbonization and reducing carbon imprints. Such an alliance aligns perfectly with the nation’s vision of self-reliance, championed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
On this momentous occasion, Shri Mohit Bhargava, while lauding the collaboration, expressed, “Our alliance with Nayara Energy mirrors our unwavering commitment to bolster India’s shift to clean and eco-friendly energy resources. Echoing a similar sentiment, Dr. Alois Virag, at the helm of Nayara Energy, acknowledged the leadership of NTPC in the green hydrogen sphere. By teaming up with NTPC, a trailblazer in green energy, we’re advancing our journey into the green hydrogen sphere. This joint endeavor reaffirms our dedication to uphold India’s energy transition goals.”
As India’s power behemoth, NTPC boasts a staggering 73+ GW of installed capacity. To reinforce its green energy thrust, the dedicated subsidiary NGEL is set to handle a spectrum of renewable ventures, spanning green hydrogen, innovative energy storage solutions, and round-the-clock renewable energy. Ambitiously eyeing 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, NTPC is already operating over 3 GW.
