There are still major differences in the amount of waste generated across the world, and how it is disposed, a finding confirmed by a 2022 Global Waste Index compiled by waste management technology firm Sensoneo to mark Global Recycling Day (18 March). The firm says the index provides a comprehensive analysis of 38 member states of the OECD according to the environmental impact of their waste management.

Ford has launched its new Ford Charge Station Pro , a bidirectional home charging station designed to work with the upcoming F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck. Ford designed the system in collaboration with Siemens. The system enables an F-150 Lightning to be used for backup power and other V2G applications. (It isn’t clear whether it would also work with other upcoming bidirectional-capable EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5.).

Battery recycling specialist Ascend Elements (formerly Battery Resourcers) has been selected by SK Battery America (SKBA) to recycle both cell and module battery manufacturing scrap from SKBA’s manufacturing facility in Commerce, Georgia. The scrap material will be recycled at Ascend Elements’ new 154,000-square-foot battery recycling facility in Covington, Georgia, which is designed to recover 98% of battery materials and return critical elements to the supply chain.

Panasonic has been working on 4680 battery cells for Tesla for a year and a half now, and plans to begin full-scale production in Japan in 2023. Kazuo Tadanobu, CEO of Panasonic’s Energy Division, recently offered some details about the innovative cells in an interview with Bloomberg. Toyota is to pilot its second generation Mirai fuel cell electric vehicle on Indian roads and climatic conditions. In the initiative Toyota’s Indian operation Toyota Kirloskar Motor is partnering with the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) to evaluate the vehicle in the local conditions. Starbucks has announced a new pilot programme with Volvo Cars to electrify the driving route from the Colorado Rockies to the Starbucks Support Centre in Seattle.
