A colossal Nevada data center will host the largest customer-sited solar-storage project in the world. Data center operator Switch plans to buy power for its record-breaking Citadel facility from an adjacent project developed and owned by Capital Dynamics. A 60-megawatt/240-megawatt-hour Tesla Megapack installation will turn 127 megawatts of solar capacity into a nearly 24/7 power source.

Microsoft has a new weapon for killing off diesel at its expanding global fleet of data centers: green hydrogen. Since entering the EV charging market a decade ago, ABB has sold over 14,000 DC fast chargers, in more than 80 countries. However, the Swiss-based electronics giant believes this is just the beginning. It has begun construction on a new production facility in San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy. The company plans to invest $30 million in the 16,000-square-meter facility, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2021.

California has set a goal of putting 5 million EVs on the state’s roads by 2030, and supporting those vehicles with 250,000 chargers.
