Hawai‘i’s first two community-owned and -designed solar projects coming to Molokai

Hawaiian Electric just announced the contracts were awarded to Hoʻāhu Energy Cooperative Molokai to build a community solar plus storage project. It will meet over 20% of Molokai's energy needs serving around 1500 households—including renters, homesteaders and other residents who have been left out of the transition to renewables. The community owned solar project is expected to grow the island's energy independence and save residents money on their utility bills.
