Reef islands in the Maldives. Seagrass meadows produce large volumes of sediment that can build coral reef island shorelines, increasing the resilience of low-lying reef island nations to future sea level rise, according to new research. The new study, from Northumbria University, amd published in Nature Communications Earth and Environment , provides seemingly the first evidence of the volume of sediment produced by a seagrass meadow in a reef island setting.

Ford plans to invest $3.5 billion to build an LFP battery plant in Marshall, Michigan. BlueOval Battery Park Michigan will initially employ 2,500 people when production begins in 2026. The automaker will offer LFP (lithium iron phosphate) as a second battery chemistry option in addition to NCM (nickel cobalt manganese), allowing customers to choose an EV with battery performance characteristics aligned with their needs.

I recently did a post about two Boston Globe reporters who took a 400-mile road trip to test how convenient it is to drive an EV over that distance. One drove a Telsa and the other a Kia Niro. Both completed the trip, but the Tesla demonstrated some significant advantages. Specifically more and faster chargers. Today, Telsa chargers can only be used by Tesla owners.
