2 Vegas Casinos Want Access To The Boring Company’s Tube System
Resorts World Las Vegas, which is planning to open in the summer of 2021, has submitted its plans for a passenger station and tunnel that would connect to the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) via The Boring Company’s tunnel.
This project would quickly transport passengers between the city’s newest casino resort and the convention center, via underground tunnels and Tesla vehicles. It’s envisioned this would take just under two minutes. Another casino, Wynn Las Vegas, also wants county approval for a link to the LVCC transit system.
The LVCC’s underground loop system is supposed to be completed in January 2021 and the city is using Elon Musk’s company The Boring Company to build it. This will be an underground tunnel loop that will use autonomous Tesla EVs to shuttle people around the LVCC and bypass traffic. If approved, the autonomous Teslas will quickly transport passengers from the resorts to the LVCC.
“The proposed Resorts World Las Vegas passenger station would provide convention guests and visitors with a rapid and seamless experience between the Las Vegas Convention Center and Resorts World Las Vegas. Convention guests would no longer have to worry about long walks or gridlock traffic around the convention center – they could take the transportation system to Resorts World Las Vegas for lunch, meetings, or personal appointments, and be back to their conference or expo in minutes. This innovative transportation system is a perfect match for Resorts World Las Vegas as we design our resort to be at the forefront of progressive technology,” said Scott Sibella, president of Resorts World Las Vegas.
The land-use application and design plans for Resorts World Las Vegas’s proposed tunnel and passenger station were submitted on the first of June and are pending approval by the Clark County Board of County Commissioners. Once approved, construction should start later this year.
