Dentons is pleased to announce its participation in the Hydrogen Demand Initiative (H2DI) coalition led by the Energy Futures Initiative Foundation (EFIF), along with S&P Global (S&P), Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI). This coalition was selected today by the Department of Energy (DOE) to administer a new demand-side initiative to support the DOE-funded Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs.

“Dentons is deeply honored to support former Energy Secretary Dr. Ernest Moniz, now CEO of EFIF, and the groundbreaking Hydrogen Demand Initiative, in one of the most consequential aspects of DOE’s national approach to designing and developing realistic demand-side hydrogen markets across the United States,” said Clinton Vince, Chair of Dentons US Energy Practice, and Co-Chair of Dentons Global Transportation and Infrastructure Sector Group.

The H2DI coalition is creating a high-impact hydrogen demand-side program designed to leverage private investment effectively and efficiently to support commercial deployment of clean hydrogen by the seven DOE-funded regional clean hydrogen hubs and surrounding areas. Its comprehensive and dynamic approach to hydrogen demand development considers multiple elements, including transparent pricing, open access to infrastructure and measurable emission reductions.

“It is our privilege to work with our distinguished colleagues in the H2DI coalition to unleash the full potential of clean hydrogen in decarbonizing the US economy,” said Emma Hand, Co-chair of Dentons Global Energy practice. “Our team of nationally and internationally ranked lawyers with decades of experience in the energy sector is ideally positioned to provide regulatory, transactional, environmental and project development counsel on hydrogen initiatives.”

“We are exceedingly proud that Dentons was chosen to work alongside other energy innovators and industry leaders to help build the energy economy of tomorrow,” said Sonia Martin, CEO of Dentons US. “Given our deep capabilities in the energy sector and ability to collaborate with lawyers across disciplines around the world, we are uniquely positioned for, and honored to accept, this groundbreaking, prestigious project.”

Dentons is distinguished for its Energy practice. The Firm has repeatedly been named “Energy Law Firm of the Year” and the “Most Dynamic Energy Practice” in peer-driven surveys, and remains at the forefront of developments in many of the highest-profile matters in the sector.
